Fee Classes
Zumba Dance Exercise Class: Mondays and Wednesdays at 9:30 am, and Tuesdays at 2:30pm. Certified Zumba Instructor Coleen Krempel is running weekly classes in this fun new exercise program. Known as a Latin Dance Party, Zumba® has become nothing short of a revolution. Six classes cost only $30, register at the desk.
Movers and Shapers Class: Tuesdays 9:30 am and Thursdays, Coleen Krempel’s very popular aerobics class is held in six week sessions at theSeniorCenter. Movers and Shapers is a fun way to move to the music through a variety of exercises designed to increase muscular strength, and range of movement, similar to Silver Sneakers program. . Signup and fee of $20 per 6-week segment is required.
Tai Chi Classes: Tuesdays at 10:30 am We have openings in our Tai Chi classes led by instructor Dee Calvey. Cost is $30 for six sessions. Improved stress reduction, balance, agility for all is the focus of Tai Chi. Studies among older adults show exercise programs that challenge balance can reduce fall rates by as much as 17%. The most recommended exercise for fall prevention is Tai Chi because of its balance criteria.
Yoga Classes: Tuesdays at 1:00 or Fridays 9 amYoga classes weekly led by instructor Karen Gillotti. Cost is $30 for six sessions. The roots of Yoga can be traced back roughly 5,000 years. The benefits extend far beyond any ordinary workout routine and allow a view of one’s life in a more peaceful and proactive state.
Sittercise: Wednesdays at 12:45 pm & Thursdays at 10:30 am Sittercise is a 45 minute exercise program designed for use with all levels of ability including the physically challenged. Discover which muscle groups can be used while seated, and learn all over movement techniques that contribute to your increased fitness and health. Use of weights, exercise bands, and poles, all provided. One time fee of $5 and registration required.
Better Balance :Wednesdays, at 3pm Dee Calvey has been trained in the evidence-based Tai Chi program developed by the Oregon Research Institute. According to their findings, Tai Chi can be a key factor in fall prevention. There is additional evidence that strengthening the lower extremities and improving postural balance through the practice of Tai Chi may reduce the frequency of falls even among early to moderately advanced Parkinson's disease patients. Dee Dee will be offering a 6 week Balance Class aimed specifically at improving balance with the initial option of chair support and she promises just 2 weeks to better balance and range of motion. Cost is $30 for full 6 week session.
Walking Club: Tuesdays mornings Experts agree that physical activity is one of the cornerstones for good health, and walking is one of the easiest (and least expensive) ways to be physically active. All you need is a good pair of shoes, and you can do it almost anywhere and at any time. Join us for twice a month meeting followed by a walk, where all our miles are accumulated. $3 monthly dues requested.
Free Classes
Weight Training: Mondays and Wednesdays at 10:45 am Led by Chuck Finnegan who makes the class so fun with his humor it is hard to believe you are getting exercise also. Focus on upper body strengthening. Weights provided.
Chair Dancing: Fridays 9am Join your friends and get in shape with a 45 minute hour video that helps tone muscles, improve flexibility and burn calories. Moves and music for the best of times.
